Ok - this is the GOD SOP.  GOD will be our main sniper, in this case Steve.

Upon contact:

1. Determine general area of enemy

2. Secure the immediate perimeter and identify the closest high ground or structure that our Sniper can occupy, while continuing to track enemy movement and narrow their position, returning fire and finding cover

3. Sniper takes position while we cover.  M4's can engage and return fire at this point not only to protect our squad, but also to call all the attention to our locations.  At that point we are just a distraction to gain Steve time, and hopefully conceal his movement.

4. If Sniper takes position unnoticed, Sniper assumes control of fire teams.  Sniper controls team movement as long as he has vis on bogeys.  IF Sniper is compromised, one or both team must return to protect and remove Sniper from direct fire, or eliminate bogey who is now distracted by the sniper position.  IF sniper loses visual on bogeys, he must decide if one or more teams should work without his direction to eliminate bogeys.  This can include no movement at all.  We can just wait them out if necessary.

- (we can use this to play off each other.  One M4 fires and the Sniper moves... gonna have to practice this.)

5. Sniper must determine if taking the shot is better than moving us in to eliminate bogeys.  As long as we have the sniper covered, he can take all the shots.  But it is still his job to use us as needed.

6. Eliminate bogeys, confirm kills.  Loot.

Looting will be something we really need to talk about.  What do we need?  How long do we stay and try to remove items?  Do we setup and kill players returning for their stuff?  Do we setup and wait for the curious that will almost always come after the fact?  Do we run as fast as we can?

IF we cannot get the high ground, and we can retreat to regroup and plan, that's what we should always do. DO NOT engage unless we know we can gain a tactical advantage. If we can, we execute SOP. If not, we fucking run away and live to fight another day. Let's be smart about or engagements. Unless it's just time to throw down... then I understand completely. I have stopped battle spawning. I want to see how shit turns out. Besides, that ultimate feeling of wanting to run.. I forget this is just a game. I get more thrills out of NOT battle spawning, just FORCING myself to stay in place and fight it out, then ANY other thing in the game. Fuck it... im staying to fight. That's what always goes through my mind now.

HE is our eyes in the sky.  He sees all and knows all.  He doesn't get a spotter... only recon snipers that work alone get those.  GOD is a squad sniper and thusly will be alone A LOT in live fire situations.

SQUAD Team Member Breakdown:

Steve - Main Sniper.  Backup Medic. (Carries some medical equipment)

Joe - Main M4 CQB.  Alpha team leader (FIRST OUT!). Backup Ammo and weapons. (Carries some ammo types i.e., .45, .223, 7.62X51)

Tim - M4 Sniper support and CQB.  Bravo Team Leader (supports Alpha team, but can remain with sniper for cover and perimeter security). Main Weapons and Ammo guy.  (Carries ALL types of ammo and secures weapons for squaddies)

Terri - Squad Medic, Backup Sniper (Carries extensive medical supplies, i.e., blood bags, saline bags, bandages, epi and morphine pens, splint, etc.) Backs up Steve's sniper position, can run with A or B teams, provide rear support, or communicate with main Sniper to determine course of action.

what about these guys?  I think that we'll always have an extra guy or two that can take positions in A or B teams.

Louis - M4, SKS?
Space - Sniper?

that's a GREAT fucking idea. Someone whose job it is to know what we need, and try to find it.

We don't have to jibber jabber for 20 min, we know going in what we are doing. This would have been ideal for Dragon. He could have been our "equipment specialist".

That's what we'll call the looter! LOL

OK -

We need names. You cannot choose your name. It must be given to you by the squad. NO ONE gets a really nasty name (like cocklicker or something) unless they are ok with it.

Steve is GOD

Joe is ?

Tim is ?

Mark is ?

Terri is ?

Space is Space I think...

OK cocklickers?

I think another smart thing to do, would be to work on gear layouts for specific jobs. Then people will know exactly what they want and/or need without any serious thought.

Like the medic/bu sniper would be loaded out a certain way.. The main sniper/bu medic a certain way.. blah blah blah.

Any ideas out there? Would love to know what you guys are thinking. You certainly don't have to put it here, but I would love to hear some discussion about what we want to do in game.

I work with a 25 year vet in the 82nd airborne. He was the top guy in the 501st, they are fucking legendary in Ft. Bragg. ANYWAY, I have been bouncing ideas off of him the last few days. He thinks we need to run with 8-10 dudes. Also, it was his idea to have "code" names so that when we are talking, in direct or anywhere else, the people not in our squad will not know who we are talking to. Thought it was a really good idea.

GOD SOP comes directly from talking to him about our encounter in the SAB. We made a lot of great decisions at first and it all went downhill from there. Steve taking the high ground in a flank position, with me as his spotter was sound tactically. He thought at least one of the snipers should have moved into the 2nd or 3rd floor of the hospital. There, that sniper would have taken over comms and assumed the role of GOD. He also talked about deploying one guy from each fire team to handle each baddie. I thought that was a little extreme, but like Mark pointed out, he is talking about the highest trained soldiers in the world working together. We are a long way from that, but at least we can use what we learn and know, and use that to gain an advantage if/when possible. We continue to have all kinds of different battle experiences. We will continue to learn from them.

Im making a list of all weapons in game, what they do, where to find them and all their necessary accessories. I also want to know effective range and all ammo requirements. As weapons specialist, that's my job.

What's your job? What do you need to do, be or know to do it better?
